Surprisingly big amount of resonator guitars available on the world market today (whether a brand new east poduction instrument or a second hand top of the line one that hasn't been mainatined properly) can obtain better sound and intonation, stay in tune for longer, as well as be more comfortable to play.
But the secret of resonator guitar construction is much more about tensions and force distributions than in traditional acoustic, classical or electric guitar. This is why most of the guitar repairmen, even though being masters in they craft, fail in getting 100% result when working on a resonator guitar.
We are not saying we'll transform your laminated wood soundwell construction dobro into Scheerhorn, neither we will put the spirit of a 1929 Style 4 National into your chinesse tricone... but if there is anything to do to improve your guitar - as long as economically reasonable - we'll do that.
Cone and bridge replacements, high grade violin maker's maple bridge inserts, well levelling, bone nuts, longitudinal and lateral alignment, intonation compensation and many more of our secrets... just to make you happy with your instrument.
Our main rule is not to make any modifications to instruments unless consulted with the owner. It particulatly applies to vintage and other collectible instruments, where the value is determinded by originality. Neverthelles, in middle and budget priced guitars, smart modifications and parts replacements often are the only solution in achieving the purposes of brilliant sound, long sustain, perfect intonation and optimal strings action.
